-
Once logged in you will arrive at the apps list page,
- if you don't want to install the full office app, or your computer is not up to running the full office,
- you can use the web-based versions using the icons on the left side of the screen instead.
- The web versions have most of the commonly used features of the full product and your work is saved as your type in your OneDrive space
- You need to be online as you work on this so make sure your connection is reliable and at least 4Mbps, most broadband speeds are well above this level.
- You can check your speed at fast.com
- From this page you can proceed to install Office by clicking the highlighted number points above.
- Click the 'Microsoft 365 Apps' link to start the installation process,
- you will then need to open the downloaded file to continue installation,
- you're allowed to install on up to 5 computers or tablets/phones in total.
- Installation times vary depending on your internet, nothing is hosted on The College network and The College has no control over the performance or changes made by Microsoft.
Phones & Tablets
- With phones and tablets, you have to download each app separately from the respective AppStore, e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Onenote, Onedrive and Powerpoint. You can pick and choose what apps you want.
- Once you have installed what you need, open Word for example and you will be asked to log in,
- For learners, at the login screen use your <LEARNERNUMBER>@mymail.nwslc.ac.uk and the password you use to access the Computers and Wi-Fi at College.
- For staff follow the same but using your staff email address and password instead.
- You will have to go through the multifactor authentication which you have likely setup already.
- The product will start working with all the features unlocked but may ask you to login the first time you run one of the applications. e.g. Word or PowerPoint.
Loading & Saving work on the Cloud with a PC.
- Everyone gets 1000GB of storage each for storing documents (you'll never fill it), you can save and load documents straight to this cloud storage directly inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc... or by signing in to Microsoft365.com using your College email and password on any supported web browser.
This is very useful if you want to work on documents at home and in class without having to use a USB stick. IT Services have had several incidents over the years where students work has been lost due to a USB stick being broken, if you are using one, please try to back up your work at least once a week to prevent losing course work.
